Toshiba ChromeBook 2

I just received this Chromebook a few days ago, and it is my first Chromebook. For years I have worked on Windows based computers for work and Mac computers for personal use.

Last year I decided to part ways with my MacBook, which I bought in 2013.  I rarely used this computer, and I decided to take a stab of using an iPad Air 2.  It did not go well, I used it even less, because it was not much different from my current iPhone.

I needed something different, something simple.  I did not want to spend a lot of money like I did in 2013 for computer that I rarely used.  This is what Chromebooks are made for, a simple computer that just does the basics.

Chromebooks range from about $150 to $500, excluding the Google Pixel. High end models range from $300 to $500.

While doing my research, I came across this Toshiba Chromebook 2 with the following features:
  1. USB 2.0
  2. USB 3.0
  3. HDMI (Full Size Input)
  4. Backlit Keyboard
  5. Full HD 1080p 13.3" Screen
This was exactly what I was looking for.  The right price from B and H Photo Video.

I rate computers on three features:
  1. Build
  2. Compatibility
  3. Usability
Build - this is a $299 notebook, so the build quality is cheap.  The build is made of plastic, but has a MacBook look.  The keyboard has a great feel for typing. The keys feel a little soft, but get the job done.  The touch pad is plastic, and feels that way when clicking.  Although, the touch clicking feels good.  The screen is HD 1080p quality and looks great.

Compatibility - Works with all your key input devices.  Connect to a TV and External Screen.  Add additional hard drives with USB and SD Card.  There are probably apps and extensions that will cover the majority of your computing needs.

Usability - Chrome OS is a browser with apps and extensions.  I use my Chromebook to browse the internet, pay bills and media consumption like Netflix and Hulu.  The computer works great for basic computing, web browsing and word processing.

I recommend this Toshiba ChromeBook 2.  For $299 it is the best for this price.
